Semaglutide
In 2021, the FDA approved a weight loss drug, Wegovy, that is used to treat adults with obesity. Since Wegovy was recently approved by the FDA, it is often not covered by insurance plans. The main ingredient in Wegovy is semaglutide. Revive Health and Wellness has partnered with a compounding pharmacy to provide our patients an affordable option for a semaglutide like product. Semaglutide is available for those individuals with a BMI of 30 or greater or those with a BMI of 27 with at least one comorbidity such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, etc.
Semaglutide is a Glucagon-like Peptide-1 (GLP-1) and is administered once weekly by injection into the thighs, stomach or upper arm. Semaglutide is not for everyone and contraindications include a family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, history of pancreatitis, history of multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) type 2, diabetic retinopathy, gallbladder disease, poorly controlled diabetes and type 1 diabetes.
In some people Semaglutide can cause gastric symptoms such as nausea, heartburn, constipation, and gas.
Semaglutide works by:
-suppressing your appetite therefore reducing caloric intake
-delaying gastric emptying (helps you feel full for longer periods)
-regulating insulin and blood glucose imbalance
Semaglutide pricing $350-$550 monthly – dose dependent (This includes weekly B12 injections):
This includes 2 visits for the first month and 1 visit every month thereafter.
Medication will be shipped monthly to you along with supplies for the weekly injections.
This price includes nutritional counseling.
Initial consultation with Nurse Practitioner. (Lab work will need to be completed prior to initiation of semaglutide).
Monthly pricing includes initial consultation with Nurse Practitioner and monthly follow ups thereafter. Lab work will need to be completed prior to start of semaglutide and repeat every 6 months. You are welcome to bring current labs from your primary care provider if you’ve had recent labs. If you’ve not had any recent lab work then contact the office prior to your scheduled appointment for an order.
Revive Health and Wellness has partnered with a lab facility in which we can offer a cash price discount for lab work. If you prefer to use your insurance and decline this discounted pricing then please know that it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to find out if your labs will be covered prior to having your labs drawn. Any incurred costs are not the responsibility of Revive Health and Wellness.
